THE INAUGURATION CEREMORNY OF “FRIENDLY LIBRARY” AT TRA TAP ETHNIC MINORITY PRIMARY DAY SCHOOL SPONSORED BY CHARITY CLUB WARM WITH LOVE

On the afternoon of April 22^nd, 2021 at Tra Tap Ethnic Minority Primary Day School, Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam province, the Inauguration ceremony of "Friendly Library" was hold after 3 months of implementation with the sponsorship of Charity Club Warm with Love in the program " Lan tỏa yêu thương, Ươm mầm tri thức (Spreading love, Nurturing knowledge)".

Attending the inauguration ceremony of "Friendly Library" were the presence of Mr. Vo Dang Thuan - Head of Education & Training Department of Nam Tra My District, Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong - Specialist of Education & Training Department of Nam Tra My District, Mr. Le Huy Phuong - Principal of Tra Tap School, Ms. Luu Thi Nghia - Vice Principal of Tra Tap School, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung - Vice Principal of Tra Tap School, Representatives of Charity Club Warm with Love and teachers and the pupils at Tra Tap school.

Tra Tap School is a school in the mountainous district of Quang Nam province, currently has 22 classes with a total of 475 students. Due to the characteristics of the terrain, difficult and dangerous roads, and the house is far from the school, the number of students who study and stay at the school is quite large. However, the accessing knowledge sources outside of class time are really limited due to the lack of facilities in the school library, the small number of books, the uncomfortable narrow space.

With the purpose to "enrich knowledge" for pupils, develop a reading culture and create opportunities for them to discover interesting things in the world around them, after a survey by representatives of Charity Club Warm with Love at Tra Tap School in late 2020, the Charity Club decided to sponsor to repair and upgrade the school library into a "friendly library" according to the criteria of a national standard library. With a funding budget of 73 million VND, including 1,000 books and the renovation cost of the library such as expanding the reading room, decorating, painting the walls, equipping the floor-lined foam carpets, bookshelves, reading desk ... after three months of implementation, the library has been officially completed and put into use.

In addition to reading, pupils can participate in creative activities.

Currently, the school library is beautifully decorated, have childhood color space, and attract children to come to read and create. This is also the foundation for pupils to have reading skills and reading habits, create a friendly, open and positive relationship between pupils and librarians, teachers and pupils. Up to now, the school library has officially become a "friendly library" with an open learning space; The activities became richer, more attractive, evoked children's curiosity to motivate children to love books and love reading.

In the inauguration ceremony of this "Friendly Library", Mr. Vo Dang Thuan - Head of Education & Training Department of Nam Tra My District - expressed his joy because of tomorrow, for the pupils at Tra Tap school in particular, there will be a fully environment to cultivate knowledge, to explore and to learn, the path to letters of the pupils in remote areas in general will also be more open. Mr. Thuan shared his sincere thanks to the charity club and expressed his hope that this will be the model library of Nam Tra My district, and there will be more such libraries with the spirit of " Spreading love, Nurturing knowledge ".

At the library, not only reading books, pupils can also participate in other activities such as drawing pictures, writing book reviews, playing games ... In addition, the school also built a plan about reading in library periods in accordance with the program framework of 1 period/week/class. The book collections in the library is very diverse and variety, with many vivid images, beautiful presentations and attractive contents, classified by color code, pupils are free to choose books according to their level, demand, and preferences.

“The school's "Friendly Library" model has brought practical results when it attracted 100% of pupils to read, exchange, and share interesting information during break-time and before starting-class time. They are like entering into a world of books, stories with many types such as comic, literary, history, knowledge, science, and life skills books ...”, Ms. Phan Thi Hong Van - Library Manager shared.

Mr. Le Huy Phuong - Principal of the school also said, with this "Friendly Library" model, the Education Department is not only very interested and but also expanding to schools in the district to develop reading habits for primary school pupils. With the aim of helping students become independent readers which will contribute to successfully improving language skills and communication skills for primary school pupils, especially children in mountainous areas like Nam Tra My district.

The "Friendly Libraries" at Tra Tap School are the first in a series of 10 libraries sponsored by the program "Spreading love, nurturing knowledge" in 2021 of Charity Club Warm with Love. The charity club was founded by Saigon Construction Corporation (SCC) in July 2019. Up to now, the charity club has carried out 29 charity programs in 17 provinces with a budget of about 6 billion VND.
