In response to the gratitude of The Emulation and Reward Council of The Central Committee at the end of 2020, Mr. Tran Viet Anh - Head of Charity Club Warm With Love, via the General Director of SCC Company shared: “In 2021, the Club will promote results, strive to achieve graduation, set out and continue participating in social security activities.” And in the first quarter of 2021, the club has made its love journey exactly as Mr. Tran Viet Anh shared. The Charity Club Warm With Love has made a journey to visit and support the 5 Households of Agent Orange victims in the program SURVIVAL SUPPORT FOR HOUSEHOLDS OF AGENT ORANGE VICTIMS in Ca Mau province to help them to overcome the pain in life.
The first household in the journey of sharing love in SURVIVAL SUPPORT FOR HOUSEHOLDS OF AGENT ORANGE VICTIMS was Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen Van Lap in Nha Dai hamlet, Quach Pham Bac commune, Dam Doi district, Ca Mau province. Due to the influence of Agent Orange and unable to have children, Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen Van Lap asked relative to bring their nephew up, love and care like their own child. But unhappiness suddenly struck, in 2013 Mr. Lap had a blocked artery, had to amputate a leg and gradually became blind, could only sit in one place, his body was often cold and painful, had to use medicine every day to fight with drug costs of nearly 2 million VND a month. The misfortune did not stop there, at the end of 2020, the adopted son was 19 years old when he discovered a brain tumor. Although they tried to borrow money to seek treatment everywhere, it wasn't long before the child's death made the couple unrelenting. Beholding their unfortunate situation, the club decided to support 5 million VND for medicine to help them. The club hopes this support could cheer Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen Van Lap through the difficult period.
The old age, many diseases, plus the pain of losing a child, and the debt of 120 million VND kept weighing on the shoulders of Mr. Nguyen Van Lap.
The second family is Mr. Tran Minh Chau (born in 1950) - Agent Orange victim in cluster 4, Dam Doi town, Dam Doi district, Ca Mau province. The club visited his family on a rainy day, the "house" of a few square meters was sheltered by old rusty corrugated iron sheets, rotten wooden boards and worn-out plastic tarpaulins, which was out in a dilapidated state. In the midst of a dark and cramped space, with furniture piled up in a mess, with a faint musty smell, Mr. Chau welcomed the club's representatives in the frail body of a person who had worked too hard when he had to both cope with illness and bring up the family. He enlisted in the army at the age of 19 and was later infected with Agent Orange. He got married and had 5 children, of which 4 children had families, all of them were poor, but the daughter with intellectual disability unfortunately was given birth to a child. His wife was paralyzed and passed away. The already poor family situation is even more difficult. The allowance cannot cover the cost of medicine, not to mention the money to support her school-age granddaughter. Mr. Chau alone had to work as hired laborers everywhere despite his advanced age and declining health. Beholding the unfortunate situation of Mr. Chau's family, the Charity Club Warm With Love has decided to support the child's school fees 12 million VND, transfer 1 million VND per month in the hope of helping the child with conditions to study better and be more confident in the bright future, contributing to alleviating the pain that her mother and her grandfather are suffering.
Mr. Tran Minh Chau with his wife and daughter before his wife died in early 2021 in the main living area, which is both a place to sleep and welcome visitors, with a cement floor that smells musty, furniture piled up in mess.
The third household that the club visited was the family of Ms. Dao Thi Tham, born in 1974 in Tan Long Hamlet, Tan Duyet Commune, Dam Doi District, Ca Mau Province. Since birth, Ms. Tham has had deformities in her hands and feet due to the sequelae of Agent Orange from her father, a part of her arms and legs atrophied, making her limp and unable to work as normal people. Her husband's income from going to the sea is just enough for the basic needs of life, so the loan amount of more than 40 million cannot be paid. The family's only consolation is that the daughter is now in 5th grade. However, with his income increasingly precarious due to the general difficult situation of society, the family's future is unknown. What the couple is concerned about is that their daughter's future learning path is not sure how to calculate. Facing her family's situation, the Charity Club Warm With Love Love has decided to support Ms. Dao Thi Tham's daughter's education with 1 million VND per month for 1 year (total 12 million VND).
Hopefully, with the support from the Charity Club Warm With Love, Ms. Tham and her daughter will have more motivation to study well and strive to rise up in life.
In the last days of March, the Charity Club Warm With Love visited the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Lach (85 years old) the household of Agent Orange victims with difficulties and misfortunes in Tan Dien hamlet, Tan Duyet commune, Dam Doi district, Ca Mau province – this is the fourth household in the program SURVIVAL SUPPORT FOR HOUSEHOLDS OF AGENT ORANGE VICTIMS. Mr. Nguyen Van Lach used to join the army and was a victim of Agent Orange. He got married and had 11 children, including Nguyen Thi Men leading to intellectual disability due to the indirect influence of Agent Orange. After his wife died, he was left alone to take care of his children and grandchildren. Three people, three generations, all bearing the pain of Agent Orange, living together in a few square meters of old, moldy, degraded house, expanded with corrugated iron and temporary, low-pitched, patchwork front and back. All expenses in the house are only encapsulated in the meager amount of support for Agent Orange victims. Beholding Mr. Lach's family, the club decided to support the family with 1 million VND of living expenses per month for 12 months, and continued to call for benefactors to join hands to help families affected by the "pain of orange”.
After his wife's death, Mr. Lach was left alone to take care of his children and grandchildren, both of whom were intellectually disabled due to the indirect influence of Agent Orange.
The last family in the program SURVIVAL SUPPORT FOR HOUSEHOLDS OF AGENT ORANGE VICTIMS in Ca Mau province that the club visited is Ms. Quang Thi Lat (born in 1980). Born in a family of 11 siblings, Ms. Lat was not as fortunate as her siblings when she was quadriplegic and could not speak due to the legacy of Agent Orange from her father. From the day their parents died, they also built their own family, leaving Ms. Lat for her youngest sister to take care of in a moldy and severely degraded house, the leak was temporarily covered with various different materials and a debt of 25 million VND that her parents borrowed when building the house in the past. Before the unfortunate situation of Ms. Quang Thi Lat, the club decided to support her living expenses for 1 year with 12 million VND and will transfer it to her monthly. Hopefully, with this support of the club, it will share some of the current difficulties and give more confidence to Ms. Lat's life in the future.
The sadness for the youngest sister who sacrificed her youth for her sister and the regret of the unfortunate fate that became the burden of her loved ones could not hide Ms. Lat’s hopeful eyes.
The program SURVIVAL SUPPORT FOR HOUSEHOLDS OF AGENT ORANGE VICTIMS in the first quarter of 2021 closed with the concerns and urges. For the Agent Orange victims who suffer a lot, both physically and mentally, they are the poorest of the poor, the most miserable of the sufferers. The war is over, but the consequences of Agent Orange after so many years are still there, clinging to generations of Vietnamese people. Agent Orange victims need the attention and sharing of the whole society. Hopefully, more and more golden hearts, benefactors and sponsors will continue to love, join hands to spread the spirit of mutual affection that the Charity Club Warm With Love is trying to promote for families who are being stalked by "orange pain", so that the Club can carry out more meaningful programs to spread love, share the burden and help the unfortunate ones have more motivation to move on in life.
